(Sep. 25/13) Restaurateurs in Alberta can now nominate some qualified foreign workers permanently, but only if employers act quickly. This victory comes after CRFA urged Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk to expand the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to help fill the province’s growing labour shortage in our industry.

What’s new?
The AINP now allows employers to permanently fill up to 20 per cent of their location’s workforce with people hired through the program. This is a significant increase – previously, foodservice employers were allowed to nominate only one foreign worker per location. To take advantage of this opportunity, employers must apply before Nov. 28.

Help for CRFA members
Because time is of the essence, CRFA wants to help members cut down on processing times by ensuring applications are completed correctly. AINP will host webinars with immigration experts to help with the application process. We will keep members informed and provide details on the application process.
