(Dec. 11/13) The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) is strengthening enforcement and training to grow the responsible sale, service and consumption of alcohol in the province. Licensees should be aware of these changes:

  • Enforcing the ‘Under 25’ policy

AGLC inspectors are now conducting random inspections to check if licensees and their staff are requesting identification from patrons who appear to be younger than 25. Inspectors will focus on high-risk areas.
  • Retaking ProServe training
Starting Jan. 1, 2014, industry workers who have violated the Gaming and Liquor Act (GLA) Section 75 – Supplying liquor to a minor; GLA Section 75(1) – Duty to an intoxicated person; or AGLC Under 25 liquor policy, will have to retake ProServe training within 30 days of being notified of the violation. Staff members that face three violations within a five-year period will not be allowed to continue working in any role that requires ProServe training.
