(Jan. 21/18): The Alberta government announced that its Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP) will be returning for its third year.

The program provides grants to employers that subsidize summer students’ wages by $7/hour. Jobs range from four to 16 weeks between May 1 and August 31. The Alberta government said that this program provides students with real job experience and gives employers the help they need during the busy summer tourist months.

In 2017, approximately 1,400 employers hired more than 3,700 students through STEP. Applications are now open and close on February 9, and can be located here.
