(Jan. 13/15) The Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) will remove most exemptions for Serving It Right (SIR) certification requirements. As of Sept. 15, all liquor servers must have Serving It Right (or equivalent) certification. This includes liquor servers in food primary licensed establishments without a lounge endorsement.

These changes follow the drop in liquor service restrictions for food primary licensees – a positive change from the B.C. Liquor Review.

A new Special Event Server (SES) certification for special occasion licensed (SOL) event staff will also be introduced.
