The B.C. Ministry of Health has developed a free online recipe standardization tool for chefs and food service operators. It features a series of short videos hosted by B.C. chef Marcus von Albrecht, who will guide you through creating a standardized recipe.

Having standardized recipes will help you:

  • Assure consistent food quality
  • Control food costs
  • Control labour costs
  • Provide predictable recipe yields
  • Provide consistent nutrient content, something many restaurant customers are looking for

Once you’ve logged into the website, you can work through the videos at your own pace. You’ll also have access to recipe templates and a cheat sheet covering key points of each section of the module.
