(Apr. 24/13) CRFA met with Alberta Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk to discuss the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) semi-skilled foodservice pilot evaluation. We went through the positive and negative aspects of the evaluation and talked about next steps, ahead of the final report.
CRFA and our quick-service restaurant members will formally respond to the evaluation and provide recommendations on criteria changes for a permanent AINP semi-skilled foodservice stream.
Other items discussed
At the meeting, we also discussed cook apprenticeship training. We proposed that Alberta follow B.C.’s lead in providing three professional cook accreditations instead of only Red Seal Level Three.
Deputy Premier Lukaszuk also asked for our recommendations on improving Alberta liquor regulations.
