(Apr. 11/13) CRFA has taken Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) to task on a Fire Service proposal that requires licensees to pay for mandatory inspections as part of their liquor licence. These inspections are required prior to opening, and then every three years thereafter. We argued it is unfair to target one sector with these fees, and noted that licensees already carry a heavier load of municipal taxes than residents.

CRFA and CRFA Directors Steve McMullin and Chris Tzaneteas met with new HRM Councillor Waye Mason, whose district contains downtown Halifax.  The Councillor gained a better understanding of our industry and pledged to work closely with CRFA.
