{"id":7282,"date":"2026-02-18T11:16:42","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:16:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.restaurantscanada.org\/?p=7282"},"modified":"2026-02-18T11:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:17:10","slug":"bank-of-canada-issues-immediate-compliance-order-to-xtm-inc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.restaurantscanada.org\/fr\/bank-of-canada-issues-immediate-compliance-order-to-xtm-inc\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank of Canada Issues Immediate Compliance Order to XTM Inc.\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Following our recent advisory\u00a0regarding\u00a0operational disruptions and account discrepancies with Everyday Payments (formerly\u00a0AnyDay), we are writing to provide an important regulatory update.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On February 17, 2026, the Bank of Canada issued a temporary compliance order directing XTM Inc. and its affiliated entities to&nbsp;immediately&nbsp;cease performing any retail payment activities under the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the regulator, the order was issued due to serious concerns&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;the safeguarding of end-user funds and the potential risk to the public interest. The order applies&nbsp;immediately&nbsp;and&nbsp;represents&nbsp;a significant escalation in regulatory action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What this means for operators:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Retail payment activities conducted through the XTM\/Everyday Payments platform are prohibited unless otherwise directed by regulators.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Businesses and employees may continue to experience delays or restrictions in accessing funds.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concerns\u00a0remain\u00a0regarding\u00a0potential shortfalls in balances associated with participant accounts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recommended actions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review and reconcile your business accounts and any program balances.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm expected tip or payout amounts against actual transactions received.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage employees using prepaid cards or digital wallets to transfer available balances to personal bank accounts where possible.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Document any discrepancies and\u00a0seek\u00a0professional or legal advice as\u00a0appropriate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recognize the operational and&nbsp;financial impact&nbsp;this situation may have on your business and your employees. Restaurants Canada will continue to&nbsp;monitor&nbsp;developments closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We advise any
