Have your say: City of Toronto consultation on single-use items

Publié octobre 4, 2019

The City of Toronto is continuing to seek input on its strategy to reduce single-use and takeaway items. Feedback is welcomed on proposed approaches, items that will be targeted, and timelines to reduce specific single-use and takeaway items.

A single-use or takeaway item is any product designed for a single-use after which it is disposed of in the garbage, Blue Bin (recycling) or Green Bin (organics). Typically, these products are not designed for durability or reuse.

Ways to participate:

  • Take the online survey. Comments will be accepted until November 4, 2019.
  • Register for one of the telephone/web town halls taking place on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 7 – 8 p.m. OR Thursday, October 24 from 1 – 2 p.m.

Raising the voice of foodservice

Whenever food and drinks are served to consume quickly or to carry out, single-use or takeaway products are needed to facilitate those dining experiences in a way that ensures food safety and quality, as well as accessibility.

Restaurants Canada encourages businesses with operations in Toronto to join in the consultation process and help make sure the voice of foodservice is heard.
