(Jul. 17/13) CRFA has identified several issues in Ontario’s updated Waste Reduction Act (WRA) that will increase the financial and regulatory burden on stewards in the province. The key change in the WRA – previously known as the Waste Diversion Act (WDA) – is a shift in who is responsible for recovering the waste packaging that stewards introduce into Ontario. The province has also released a new Waste Reduction Strategy (WRS) that may pose challenges for our members.

CRFA is urging members to review the issues we’ve highlighted and provide feedback. Your comments will be used in our response to government. E-mail your comments to CRFA’s Environment and Sustainability Manager Douglas McCallum atdmccallum@restaurantscanada.org.
