(Mar 24/17) A private member’s bill in B.C. to prohibit requirements for women to wear high heels in bars and restaurants received much attention across Canada.
The bill sought to “prevent employers from requiring setting varying footwear and other requirements based on gender expression or gender identity. As a result, for example this act would prevent employers from requiring employees to wear high heeled shoes.”
The bill died on the order paper on March 16, but it received support in principle by MLAs from all three parties, including Premier Christy Clark.
