B.C. labour shortage recruitment resources

Published November 29, 2017

Over the past few months, Restaurants Canada heard from an increasing number of B.C. members concerned about the growing hospitality labour shortage in the province. Besides Restaurants Canada’s ongoing immigration and foreign worker policy advocacy, we recently met with the Immigrant Employment Council of B.C. (IEC-BC) and Youth Jobs Canada, who want members to know that they have resources you may not be aware of that may help your recruitment efforts.

BC JobConnect is a FREE online tool created by the IEC-BC to connect the province’s employers to job-ready newcomers. This easy-to-use website is designed to help businesses fill their workforce needs while offering immigrants to B.C. an effective way to showcase their talents and gain meaningful employment.

BC JobConnect is not your average job board. It does not involve posting of opportunities by employers and endless sifting through applications. Instead, the website enables employers to identify candidates of interest based on flexible, multi-parameter searches of profile information and supporting documents uploaded by newcomer job seekers. Once employers find suitable candidates, the IEC-BC facilitates the connection.

Youthjobscanada.ca is the country’s leading targeted and focused national youth employment website, demographically connecting youth with employers in Canada. With an innovative, integrated and singular approach to offer youth and employers choice, all in one platform, youthjobscanada.ca offers a national/provincial platform, affordable plans and a user friendly/easy-to-use process.
