Jason Kenney and Patrick Saurette discuss Alberta’s foodservice Industry

Published March 27, 2018

On March 21, newly elected Restaurants Canada Chair Patrick Saurette (The Marc restaurant) and Mark von Schellwitz, VP Western Canada, attended an event with United

Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney that was hosted by Restaurants Canada member Claude Nadeau at Zambelli’s restaurant in Leduc, Alta.

Patrick and Mark congratulated Kenney for his significant accomplishments in 2017, winning two party leadership contests, merging the PC and Wild Rose Parties, and winning a by-election to sit in the Legislature as an MLA and Opposition Leader.

Kenney directly addressed the size and importance of Alberta’s restaurant industry during the event, highlighting our members’ concerns, the numerous government-mandated cost increases, and his previous work with Restaurants Canada, both as a federal cabinet minister and restaurant caucus MP. Patrick and Mark also spoke in more detail with Kenney about the challenges facing Alberta restaurateurs, from sluggish sales to ever-growing labour cost increases.
