Newfoundland reduces deposit requirements on special liquor orders

Published January 16, 2019

The “Raise the Bar” report card on provincial liquor policies that Restaurants Canada releases every two years continues to bring positive changes for licensed establishments. As a result of the 2017 report, the Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) asked Restaurants Canada to lead a working group to explore ways to help licensees. In December, NLC took its cue from the working group and reduced the deposit requirements on special liquor orders from 100 per cent down to 50 per cent. This will help licensees who were struggling from the loss of cash flow required for these orders over a significant period of time.
