On June 29th, Doug Ford and his 20 cabinet ministers took their oaths of office with Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell. In an outdoor ceremony at Queen’s Park, Ford promised that his government will be a “Government for the People”.

“I will never forget why I’m here: to work for the people of Ontario,” said Ford. “I promised the people that I would help make our great province the best place in North America when it comes to business, creating jobs and raising a family. And I am going to keep my promise.”

Below are the new cabinet ministers with positions of particular interest to the foodservice industry:

Victor Fedeli — Minister of Finance and Chair of Cabinet
Laurie Scott — Minister of Labour
Christine Elliott — Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and Deputy Premier
Ernie Hardeman — Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
Jim Wilson — Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade

Restaurants Canada has already been talking with members of the new government and will be setting up meetings with the new ministers to discuss key issues impacting our industry.
