Youth Employment Fund renewed in New Brunswick

Restaurateurs in New Brunswick can continue to benefit from a reimbursement of up to $10,000 for each young person they employ between the ages of 18 and 29, thanks to the provincial government’s renewal of the Youth Employment Fund.

Administered by the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, this program aims to help unemployed or underemployed youth gain work experience.

Who is eligible?

Youth aged 18 to 29 who are:

  • unemployed;
  • high school students not pursuing post-secondary education; or
  • working less than 15 hours per week.

How does it work?

Participating foodservice operators can be reimbursed up to $10,000 per employee for 30 hours of employment during 26 consecutive weeks of work. As an employer, you can sign up with the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour to find youth already registered. You can also contact the department to qualify new employees you have recruited yourself.
