Our members have spoken and credit card rates continue to be one of the top 3 issues affecting their business operations.
In response, Restaurants Canada has been lobbying the federal government on behalf of our industry to achieve rate stability and greater fairness in the payment industry. Due in large part to efforts made by our federal lobbyists, we are pleased to announce the decrease in interchange rates – which means lower MasterCard rates.
This is a step in the right direction. Restaurants Canada will continue to be a leading agent for positive change in the payment industry. We will keep working with Visa, MasterCard and the federal government to bring better solutions and increased transparency for our members.
