Minimum wage increase and Bill 148 Rules and Regulations are in effect

Now that Ontario’s Bill 148 has come in to effect in conjunction with the minimum wage increase to $14/hour, many foodservice operators are scrambling to adjust to the vast changes to the province’s shifting labour landscape.

Large and small businesses alike will change their operating models in the coming weeks and months as they see fit. Some will increase menu prices,  while others may shut their doors permanently or reduce staff and business hours, benefits and portion sizes.

Restaurants Canada is helping businesses adapt to these sweeping reforms by hosting webinars and voicing the concerns our members communicated to us to the provincial government. You can read the national articles that our senior leaders were featured in here and here.

Our December 6 webinar, Preparing for Bill 148, was a great success with more than 350 participants and was hosted by an expert panel comprised of Sherrard Kuzz LLP partner Erin R.
