(Jan. 26/17) The Government of New Brunswick announced the minimum wage will rise to $11 per hour in April 2017 – which is four months later than the original planned date of January 2017. This delay gives business owners more time to prepare for the increase, and harmonizes the implementation date with those of the other Atlantic provinces.

This increase fulfills the government’s election commitment. Premier Gallant also announced that future minimum wage increases will link to inflation. Restaurants Canada supports this move as it ensures future wage increases are incremental, transparent and not politically driven.
