New Employment Standards regulations with respect to youth under 18 years of age will be implemented in September although the list of acceptable light duty work for 13-15 year olds and hazardous work for 16- to 17-year-olds has yet to be published. Restaurants Canada actively participated in consultations on specific Employment Standards youth regulations which led to the above changes. Ministry of Labour officials addressed many industry concerns relating to allowed light duties for 13- to 15-year-olds and hazardous duties for 16- to 17-year-olds.
