As New Brunswick prepares to go to the polls on September 22, Restaurants Canada has a clear message for election candidates: New Brunswick’s $1.2-billion, 24,000-employee restaurant industry is too important to ignore!

Foodservice operators and our employees are an integral part of New Brunswick’s fabric, both economically and socially. In financial terms, our industry is made up of more than 1,700 small business operators. On top of this, for every dollar spent in a restaurant, an additional $1.85 is spent in the rest of the economy. With 24,000 employees, we are the fourth-largest, private-sector employer in the province.

There is no better time to approach a politician about issues impacting your business than when they are seeking election. Our industry is uniquely positioned to get a message to the provincial parties during this election – candidates are visiting restaurants daily while on the campaign trail.

You can help make restaurants matter in this election by using the resources in your Election Toolkit:

  1. Review Restaurants Canada’s Vision for New Brunswick’s Restaurant Industry.
  2. Review the Top Issues Impacting New Brunswick’s Restaurant Industry.
  3. Use the Participation Guide to gain a better understanding of how to get involved.
  4. Share the Snapshot of  New Brunswick’s Restaurant Industry (PDF) to show how important our industry is.

Provincial candidates need to hear about the importance of the restaurant industry to their community – and what is needed in the way of public policy to instill business confidence. We want to work together to ensure the industry can invest, create jobs and contribute to the province’s prosperity into the future.
Together we can make a difference!
