(Jul. 28/14) Restaurants Canada is creating two new working groups on beverage alcohol and the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP) to give us input on these important issues.
We have been aggressive on the beverage alcohol front to get fair beer prices and better treatment from the LCBO, as well as address Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) issues. However, we have seen slow movement. We are considering options for future strategies, and need your input.
Ontario Retirement Pension Plan
The ORPP was reintroduced in the July budget. Minister Mitzie Hunter, who is in charge of implementing the program, will meet with Restaurants Canada in late August. A strong, unified voice is essential for a successful meeting to address the negative effects of increased payroll taxes.
If you would like to have a representative from your business join one of these working groups, contact Restaurants Canada’s Ontario VP James Rilett.
