(Jan. 7/18): The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) and the Richmond Hill Small Business Enterprise Centre will be hosting an information session regarding Personal Emergency Leave (PEL) on Facebook Live on January 29 at 10 a.m. (EST). The event is targeting small business owners so they can better understand the questions and challenges they will face resulting from these changes.

Updated and new PEL rules and regulations are one of the most controversial reforms included in the Ontario government’s Bill 148.

The event will be hosted by Alison Griggs, a provincial specialist in the MOL’s Employment Practices Branch. Her work focuses on the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and assisting employees and employers navigate Ontario’s shifting labour landscape.

When Restaurants Canada hosted our Preparing for Bill 148 webinar on December 6, many of the questions posed to our panel were in regard to PEL, due to lack of clarity of the rules, regulations and reforms.
