(April 15/18): A study examining the impact of Ontario’s Bill 148 and rise in the minimum wage on Northern Ontario businesses conducted by Lakehead University estimates up to 1,150 local jobs could be lost because small businesses cannot afford the cost increases.

The worst news included in the study was that Quick Service Restaurants and their employees would be impacted most.

The study also found that owners and operators are reducing employee shifts and hours and increasing prices and passing them on to consumers to try and offset the increased labour costs.

    You don’t need to be an economist to see this coming. Provincial government policies are meant to garner votes in the GTA…outside of that, is irrelevant to most MPP’s.
