P.E.I. government seeks industry feedback on Liquor Control Act changes

Published July 17, 2018

The PEI Liquor Control Commission values the licensee community and has a strong record of responding to industry concerns brought forward by Restaurants Canada and the PEI Restaurant Association.

This strong relationship was a large reason for the B- grade that Prince Edward Island received in Restaurants Canada’s Raise the Bar report, which was the second-highest grade earned out of all the provinces (click here to learn more about this report).

Now the P.E.I. government is seeking industry feedback for further changes to the Liquor Control Act.

Restaurants Canada plans to bring forward the following recommendations:
• Wholesale discounts should be expanded to all package sizes of beer
• Licensees should be able to purchase directly from craft breweries and distillers
• Alcohol products should be permitted to be sold with take-out
• Eliminate other red-tape barriers

We urge licensees to click here to respond to the survey from the P.E.I. government, and email any questions or concerns to Luc Erjavec, Restaurants Canada’s Vice President, Eastern Canada, at lerjavec@restaurantscanada.org.

The survey must be completed by Tuesday, July 31.
