CHARLOTTETOWN — Working closely with the Government of Prince Edward Island, the Prince Edward Island Restaurant Association is encouraging its members to wear masks while serving customers.

The association sent an email to its members today reinforcing guidance from the P.E.I. Department of Health and Wellness that wearing a non-medical mask is recommended when physical distancing cannot be maintained in the workplace.

“Following this recommendation is not only an important way to show we care about our staff and customers, it’s key to supporting the ongoing recovery of the tourism and hospitality sector on Prince Edward Island,” said P.E.I. Restaurant Association President Carl Nicholson.

“P.E.I.’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Heather Morrison and the rest of the provincial government have been doing an exceptional job keeping Islanders safe. It’s important that we continue to do our part to protect our staff and serve our customers in a responsible manner that builds on the progress we’ve made so far as a province.”

Working closely with Restaurants Canada and the Government of Prince Edward Island, the P.E.I. Restaurant Association has provided the Island’s restaurants with a COVID-19 Rapid Recovery Guide to help them comply with evolving public health guidance.
