By Chris Elliott, Senior Economist (Jun. 11/14) It was a challenging March for restaurant operators as sales rose a tepid 2.2% on a year-over-year basis, according to Statistics Canada data. Bad weather put a chill on consumer spending at restaurants and retail in Quebec and the Maritimes. Some segments bore the brunt of this impact, while others still performed well. The overall sales picture also varied by province.
