(Sep. 29/15) Restaurants Canada recently spoke to a legislative committee on the New Brunswick Workers’ Compensation system.   Given the well-funded position of WorkSafeNB, organized labour and injured worker groups are pressing to increase benefit levels and expand coverage.  We believe this could increase the rate of assessment premiums paid by businesses in the province.

Restaurants Canada urged the Committee to maintain the current benefit structure, including the three-day waiting period, and not to expand the scope of injuries covered.  Restaurants Canada suggested that any excess premiums collected should be returned to employers, or used to enhance safety measures.
