Mr. Tory discussed the need to help our industry create jobs and attract tourists. He noted the importance of having oversight and regulations in the foodservice industry, without being overbearing. “We can’t afford the bureaucracy to make your lives miserable,” he said.

In addition to recognizing the restaurant industry’s importance to Toronto’s economy, Mr. Tory committed to meeting with Restaurants Canada as mayor and attending a future Restaurants Canada Show.

When asked if he would appear on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Mr. Tory joked that he would be too boring a guest. However, he suggested Jimmy Kimmel come to Toronto for a week of shows to promote the city. Restaurants Canada volunteered to help make this idea a reality.
