(Jul. 28/14) Restaurants Canada raised issues that impact our Calgary members and their customers with Mayor Naheed Nenshi on July 22. Topics included:

  • red tape reduction strategy;
  • taxi initiatives;
  • food trucks;
  • liquor regulations, including extended liquor service hours and compliance; and
  • patio licensing.

We also talked about the effect of recent changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program on Calgary’s economy. That same day, Mayor Nenshi publicly opposed Ottawa’s new TFW rules. He noted they will hurt Calgary’s economy and further erode the dignity of TFWs who should have a path to permanent residency. Read Mayor Nenshi’s statement in the Calgary Herald.
