Published March 2, 2018

March 2, 2018 – Toronto, ON: We are excited to announce a new addition to the Restaurants Canada team: Lauren van den Berg has accepted the role of National Vice President, Government Affairs. She will be replacing Joyce Reynolds, who is retiring after 39 years with the association.

In this role, Lauren will lead our advocacy department and develop innovative government affairs strategies that will enhance and build the profile of Restaurants Canada among government and industry stakeholders.

With an excellent track record of successful public affairs leadership from across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, Lauren brings a wealth of experience in government relations, public affairs and strategic communications, which will help us meet the growing public policy challenges that face our industry. She has extensive experience working with member-based organizations and proven success building and enhancing the profile and brand of national, not-for-profit associations through comprehensive communications and government affairs strategies that focus on value-add ROI for members.

“We’re thrilled to have Lauren join the team,” said Shanna Munro, President and CEO. “Thanks to her renowned experience working with national industry associations, we know that she will bring tremendous value to Restaurants Canada and its members. Her forward-thinking and proactive approach to building trust, partnerships and strategic alliances among key influencers will help us raise the voice of our industry across the ecosystem.”

Prior to joining Restaurants Canada, she held leadership positions with Counsel Public Affairs, and the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada, where she championed issues critical to the competitiveness and growth of member-companies across all levels of government. She also worked in several federal government departments, and served as the Canadian liaison for the Washington, D.C.-based Hudson Institute’s Center for Political-Military Analysis.

Lauren holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration from Carleton University, and a Bachelor (Hons.) from McGill University in Political Science and Economics.

We are delighted that Lauren has decided to join Restaurants Canada. Please join us in welcoming Lauren to the team!
