(Oct. 22/17) On Oct. 17, Restaurants Canada directors and staff participated in our annual “Day on the Hill” event in Ottawa. We had meetings with almost 30 MPs and representatives from all major parties. We delivered core messages on small business taxes, marketing restrictions, alcohol taxes and credit card fees. We focused on issues that mean major money and visibility for our members, and we are confident that we made significant inroads.
As the parliamentary session enters an important stretch, Restaurants Canada was once more at the right place at the right time. MPs and Ministers were open to our comments and new relationships were established.
Many MPs and staff told us they spent part of their careers in foodservice, which helped to substantiate our point about the important foundation foodservice jobs provide for youth.
