Published October 28, 2019

The fall session of the Saskatchewan legislature kicked off on Oct. 23 with a throne speech announcing the government’s plans for a new decade of growth.

In an official statement following the remarks, Premier Scott Moe said he will be releasing the new Saskatchewan Plan for Growth during the fall legislative session. The plan will chart a course toward increasing Saskatchewan’s population by 225,000 people to 1.4 million and creating 100,000 more jobs by 2030.

The throne speech also revealed that Premier Moe’s government plans to introduce 30 new pieces of legislation during the fall session, including an amendment to the Saskatchewan Employment Act to bring parental leave rules in line with federal policy.

The government stated it will achieve these objectives while maintaining its commitment to a balanced budget.
