(Apr. 15/15) As you start planning your warm weather gigs, we remind you the government no longer requires a valid work permit for foreign performers. Employers also do not need approval for a costly Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This victory means big savings for our members that employ short-term foreign performers.
Restaurants Canada pushed the government to exempt foreign performers and their crew from employer recruitment fees. The government had wanted to extend the LMIA application fee of $1,000 to each foreign artist and crew member brought into the country, which would have been costly for you.
