(May 16/14) In an ongoing effort to push government for a comprehensive strategy on labour shortage, Restaurants Canada met with Leader of the Liberal Party Justin Trudeau and Liberal Citizenship and Immigration Critic John McCallum to discuss how to make the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program work for our members and all employees.
Restaurants Canada fully supports hiring Canadians first, but is disappointed by the broad-stroke suspension of the TFW program for the foodservice industry. We have pushed government to reinstate the program, especially in areas of severe labour shortages.
