Last April, the federal and provincial governments announced a new Canada Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) to eliminate interprovincial trade barriers. However, it excluded alcohol. A provincial working group was established to make recommendations to liberalize alcohol trade in Canada within a year.
That group is now circulating a survey to gather opinions on alcohol trade and Restaurants Canada encourages licensees to complete it. This is your opportunity to share your frustrations with government about not being able to access craft beers, wines or spirits from neighbouring provinces at a reasonable price. We need to knock down internal alcohol trade barriers and now is the time to make yourself heard, but you have to act fast! The deadline for responses is November 10.
