Health Canada has asked Restaurants Canada to request your input on the use of partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs, also known as trans fats) in the food you prepare. This is one step in the federal health minister’s promise to eliminate trans fats in Canada’s food supply.

In 2006, you moved quickly to remove trans fats from your menus to meet new limits. Now the government wants your input on whether any ingredients you buy still contain trans fats.

Participation in the survey is optional, and the deadline is June 29. If you would like to participate, you’ll find instructions here and a sample template here.

If you send any information to Health Canada, please copy Restaurants Canada at jreynolds@restaurantscanada.org
