(Nov. 1/16) Last fall, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission made it illegal for suppliers to pay to clean your draught beer lines. This was done in part to prevent suppliers from making cash payments that were sometimes well above the actual cost of the cleaning, Many of you told us you relied on this service to provide the freshest and best-tasting product.

Restaurants Canada lobbied on your behalf, and the commission has reconsidered. Now it’s permissible under the following conditions:

-Suppliers and agencies can clean your draught lines either i) directly or ii) through an independent cleaning service with no financial connection to you.
-If you clean your own lines, a supplier can’t reimburse you for these costs.

This change is effective immediately.
