(Jul. 9/14) Restaurants Canada has once again convinced the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) to extend liquor service hours for a special event. Our licensed members in Calgary can serve liquor from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. during the Calgary Stampede, on July 5 to 13. Read the AGLC statement for more information.
Earlier this year, Restaurants Canada struck gold when it successfully convinced the AGLC to allow member licensees to start serving liquor at 5 a.m. for the Olympic Men’s Hockey final. Since then, we have continued to push the AGLC for more flexible liquor service hours, especially for special events.
If the Calgary Stampede pilot project is as successful as the Olympic pilot, Restaurants Canada will advocate for permanent changes to the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Act that provide more flexible and extended liquor service hours for our members.
