Bank of Canada Issues Immediate Compliance Order to XTM Inc.

National

Following our recent advisory regarding operational disruptions and account discrepancies with Everyday Payments (formerly AnyDay), we are writing to provide an important regulatory update.

On February 17, 2026, the Bank of Canada issued a temporary compliance order directing XTM Inc. and its affiliated entities to immediately cease performing any retail payment activities under the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA).

According to the regulator, the order was issued due to serious concerns regarding the safeguarding of end-user funds and the potential risk to the public interest. The order applies immediately and represents a significant escalation in regulatory action.

What this means for operators:

  • Retail payment activities conducted through the XTM/Everyday Payments platform are prohibited unless otherwise directed by regulators.
  • Businesses and employees may continue to experience delays or restrictions in accessing funds.
  • Concerns remain regarding potential shortfalls in balances associated with participant accounts.

Recommended actions:

  • Review and reconcile your business accounts and any program balances.
  • Confirm expected tip or payout amounts against actual transactions received.
  • Encourage employees using prepaid cards or digital wallets to transfer available balances to personal bank accounts where possible.
  • Document any discrepancies and seek professional or legal advice as appropriate.

We recognize the operational and financial impact this situation may have on your business and your employees. Restaurants Canada will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

We advise any members who are missing funds to continue reaching out to XTM Inc. directly.
