Restaurants Fuel Canada’s Economy
With more than 105,000 locations across Canada, restaurants are a vital engine of the Canadian economy and the communities they serve. We generate $125 billion in annual sales, accounting for 4% of Canada’s GDP, and employ 1.2 million workers, including 480,000 youth.
Canadians visit restaurants 23.7 million times every day. Restaurants nourish our communities by feeding us, providing hundreds of thousands of jobs, and serving as a place to gather and bond with our friends, family, and colleagues. The livelihoods of countless employees, especially youth and newcomers, depend on the success of Canada’s foodservice industry.
