Your Weekly Snapshot of Canada’s Restaurant Industry
Restaurants Canada’s Bite-Sized Weekly Restaurant Trends dashboard provides a clear, weekly snapshot of restaurant performance across Canada, helping industry leaders track momentum in real time. Designed specifically for restaurant operators and industry suppliers, the interactive tool delivers year over year comparisons of key metrics including same-store sales, number of transactions, and average transaction size, with the ability to filter by segment (full-service or quick-service) and by region. Whether benchmarking performance, identifying shifts in consumer activity, or supporting business planning conversations, the dashboard offers timely, credible insights grounded in national transaction data.
By presenting weekly growth rates rather than broad monthly averages, the dashboard allows users to see turning points as they happen, whether seasonal slowdowns, holiday surges, or shifts in consumer behaviour.
Important context: Data from Moneris includes tips and applicable taxes. As the GST/HST holiday was in effect between December 15, 2024, and February 15, 2025, year over year comparisons, including same-store sales and average transaction size, may appear higher this year due to the reinstatement of tax.
