P.E.I. budget could help restaurant sales

Published April 20, 2017

The Prince Edward Island government’s first balanced budget in a decade, delivered on April 7, could provide future tax relief for Islanders – and more cash in consumer pockets for restaurant spending.

Restaurants Canada is hopeful the small increase in the Basic Personal Exemption to $8160 will raise disposable income, which is welcome news for foodservice operators. We’re also pleased the budget didn’t include any tax increases or new fees.

The government has also predicted a strong year for tourism, which means more business for restaurants.
