WorkSafeBC is working hard to promote kitchen safety in restaurants and at home.
In early March, the organization posted a series of new training videos that examine workplace safety and best practices. The videos are hosted by well-known executive chefs from around the province.
The topics include:
Focusing on Safety
Preventing Cuts from Knives
Preventing Cuts from Meat Slicers
Preventing Burns and Scalds
Using Deep Fryers Safely
Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls
Preventing Lifting Injuries
The training videos were filmed at Western Canadian restaurant chain White Spot’s culinary centre in Vancouver. The chefs featured in the videos are students of well-known B.C. Executive Chef James Kennedy, who heads White Spot’s Red Seal program.
